CHINNASAMY <\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=KARUR\"><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=KARUR\">KARUR<\/a><\/a>) : Under the Indira Awas Yojana, the Central Government is constructing 33,000 houses in Tamil Nadu for the current year. The total expenditure for construction of one house under this scheme is only Rs.32,000 which is grossly insufficient in the light of the present cost of materials and labour. The amount should be raised upto Rs. 50,000\/-. The Central Government is providing only Rs.15,000\/- whereas the remaining amount is being shared by the State Governments. <\/p>\n<p>Under the Indira Awas Yojana, for Tamil Nadu the Central Government has earmarked 33,000 houses only whereas the requirement is ten times more. The allotment be increased. In the meanwhile, the State Government are handicapped to reallot among the districts in certain cases without exceeding the total allotment given to the States. For example, Kanyakumari District has been allotted 2000 houses whereas its present requirement is only 28 houses. Hence, I request the Central Government to issue instruction or give permission to the State Governments to directly allot the houses to the needy according to the requirements of the districts of Tamil Nadu.\n<\/p>\n<p>In this connection, the Government of Tamil Nadu has also written a letter to the Central Government seeking the clarification and to extend the permission to the State Government to reallot 2,000 houses already allotted to Kanyakumari district to other districts.
