They  approached   this  Court aggrieved<\/p>\n<p>by the alleged unconscionable enhancement of rent.   In all these<\/p>\n<p>cases,   this   Court   has   permitted     continuance   of   occupation   by<\/p>\n<p>paying   rent   as   enhanced   by   100%.   In   some   of   the   cases,   the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners   have   approached   the   government.                   Learned<\/p>\n<p>Government Pleader submits that the enhancement is in view of<\/p>\n<p>the   expenses   incurred  for   maintaining   the  hostel.    However, the<\/p>\n<p>contention   of   the   petitioners   is   that   in   any   case,   enhancement<\/p>\n<p>beyond 100% is certainly unreasonable, particularly in view of the<\/p>\n<p>pathetic   situation     of   the   building.     Learned   counsel   for   the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners   prays   for   an   opportunity   to   move   the   Government<\/p>\n<p>pointing out the condition of the building, need for urgent repair<\/p>\n<p>and   also   that   in   any   case,   the   enhancement   beyond   100%   is<\/p>\n<p>unjust   and   unreasonable.     In   the   above   circumstances,   the   writ<\/p>\n<p>petition is disposed of as follows :-\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>             Petitioners   may   approach   the   Government   either<\/p>\n<p>OP NO. 31350\/02&amp;connected cases         2<\/p>\n<p>individually   or   through   their   association   within   a   period   of   two<\/p>\n<p>months from today.  Thereafter, the Government will consider the<\/p>\n<p>matter   with   notice   to   the   associations\/first   signatory   to   the<\/p>\n<p>representations,         and   pass   appropriate   orders   thereon   in<\/p>\n<p>accordance   with   law,   adverting   to   the   contentions   taken   by   the<\/p>\n<p>petitioners, within another four months.
