The appeal was heard on 13.08.2009 in absence of the appellant.\n<\/p>\n<p>2.       The appellant has asked for information relating to the details of parties<br \/>\nengaged in sale of bullion (Gold and Silver) and the value of transaction,<br \/>\nincluding the costs and prices of such dealings.\n<\/p>\n<p>3.       During the hearing, the CPIO stated that information has been refused u\/s<br \/>\n8 (1) (d) of the Act on the ground that the requested information is in the nature<br \/>\nof commercial confidence, the disclosure of which would adversely affect the<br \/>\nbusiness and competitiveness of the respondent.\n<\/p>\n<p>Decision:\n<\/p>\n<p>4.       The appellant has not indicated as to what is the public interest in<br \/>\ndisclosure of the information asked for. The disclosure of details of identity of<\/p>\n<p>                             If you don&#8217;t ask, you don&#8217;t get &#8211; Mahatma Gandhi<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hidden_text\">                                            1<\/span><br \/>\n parties that are engaged in the sale of bullion and other business transactions<br \/>\nwould be detrimental to commercial interest of the respondent. The denial of<br \/>\ninformation u\/s 8 (1) (d) of the Act is therefore justified and the decision of the<br \/>\nCPIO is thus upheld.\n<\/p>\n<p>5.
