SIRI JAGAN, J.\n                     ------------------------------\n                     W.P.(C) No.17131 OF 2010\n                    -------------------------------\n               Dated this the 7th day of JUNE, 2010\n\n\n                          J U D G M E N T\n<\/pre>\n<p>      The petitioner is a student, who studied in the fifth<\/p>\n<p>respondent school.       On account of delay in publication of the<\/p>\n<p>results for the Higher Secondary Examination, by which time the<\/p>\n<p>last date for submitting applications before Colleges for degree<\/p>\n<p>course is expired, making it impossible for the petitioner to apply<\/p>\n<p>for admission to degree courses, the petitioner has filed this writ<\/p>\n<p>petition seeking the following relief:\n<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>         &#8220;a)    issue a writ of mandamus or such other order<br \/>\n         compelling the 1st respondent to direct the respondents 2<br \/>\n         to 4 to consider the applications submitted by the<br \/>\n         petitioner for Degree Course 2010-2011 within such time<br \/>\n         as this Hon&#8217;ble court shall deem just&#8221;.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>      2.   I have heard the learned Standing Counsel appearing<\/p>\n<p>for the University also.      The learned Standing Counsel for the<\/p>\n<p>University submits that even if the last date is over, as per the<\/p>\n<p>University laws, applications can be filed along with late fee of<\/p>\n<p>Rs.100\/- till the last date for closing admission. But he hastens<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"hidden_text\">W.P.(C)No.17131\/10                2<\/span><\/p>\n<p>to add that, on that count, the petitioner cannot claim that the<\/p>\n<p>rank list, if already prepared, has to be re-arranged.<\/p>\n<p>Therefore, he would submit that if the petitioner files<\/p>\n<p>applications before any of the Colleges under the University,<\/p>\n<p>they are bound to accept and consider the applications<\/p>\n<p>depending on the situation as existing on the date of the<\/p>\n<p>application filed by the petitioner. This submission is recorded<\/p>\n<p>and the writ petition is closed. I make it clear that such late<\/p>\n<p>applications would not give any right to the petitioner to claim<\/p>\n<p>admission in preference to others, whose applications have<\/p>\n<p>already been processed by the colleges.\n<\/p>\n<\/p>\n<p>                                    S.
