Mankad, J.<\/p>\n<p>1. This appeal by Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation is directed against the judgment and award dated November 30, 1984; passed by the Motor Accident Claims Tribunal (Main) Panchmahals at Godhra, awarding compensation of Rs. 21,490\/- to respondent No. 1 for the injuries sustained by him in a vehicular accident.\n<\/p>\n<p>2. The first contention which is urged on behalf of the appellant is that the Tribunal has erred in awarding compensation of Rs. 10,500\/- under the head of Future Economic Loss. It is urged that a result of the injury sustained by him the claimant is not likely to suffer any economic loss; and in any case, having regard to the age of the claimant, the Tribunal ought not to have applied the multiplier of 15. It appears from the evidence discussed by the Tribunal that the claimant was 50 years old and had suffered injury which resulted in permanent disability to the extent of 3 1\/2 per cent. The Tribunal assessed the annual income of the claimant at Rs. 20,000\/- and reached the conclusion that as a result of the permanent disability suffered by him, he would suffer loss to the extent of Rs. 700\/- per month. Applying the multiplier of 15, the Tribunal assessed the loss at Rs. 10,500\/- under the head Future Economic Loss. We are unable to accept the argument of the learned Counsel for the appellant that the claimant had not suffered or was not likely to suffer any economic loss as a result of permanent disability suffered by him a result of the injury sustained by him in the accident. In our opinion, having regard to the evidence on record, assessment of annual income of the claimant and assessment of the annual loss as a result of permanent disability suffered by the claimant appears to be reasonable and proper.\n<\/p>\n<p>3. So far as application of multiplier is concerned, we do not think it would make much difference. Even if we were to apply multiplier of say 10 or 12 to assess the future economic loss to the claimant. The difference would be so small that we would not consider it proper to interfere with the assessment made by the Tribunal. It is important to remember that out of the total compensation of Rs. 21,490\/- awarded by the Tribunal, the appellant has confined its claim to Rs. 10,000\/-. In other words, the appellant does not dispute balance of the amount awarded by the Tribunal. Having regard to the facts and circumstances of the case, we see no reason to interfere with the award passed by the Tribunal.\n<\/p>\n<p>4.
