V. SAROJA <\/a><\/p>\n<p><\/a>(<a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=RASIPURAM\"><a class=\"marker_ref\" href=\"\/search\/?formInput=RASIPURAM\">RASIPURAM<\/a><\/a>): Mr. Deputy-Speaker, Sir, there is an urgent need that the Reservation Act should be passed by Parliament without any delay. \u00e2\u0080\u015a (Interruptions) Sir, in Tamil Nadu, with effect from 19.7.1994, the Constitution of India was amended and the Tamil Nadu Backward Classes, Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Reservation of seats in Educational Institutions and of appointments of posts in the Services under the State) Act, 1993 was included at entry No. 257A in the Ninth Schedule by the hon. Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, Dr. Puratchi Thalaivi Jayalalitha. <\/p>\n<p>Sir, apart from this, the States of Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Orissa, Tripura and Bihar had also passed this Act. The Act should also incorporate reservations in higher education; reservations in the services of all the Public Sector Undertakings, Banks, etc.; all constitutional safeguards enshrined in the Constitution and all executive instructions, circulars and memoranda on such safeguards; and reservation in recruitment and promotions and all matters connected with reservations, i.e. relaxation, exemption, concessions, etc. <\/p>\n<p>For the socio-political and educational empowerment of SCSTs and OBCs, I urge upon the Government to pass the Reservation Act in Parliament without any delay.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Lok Sabha Debates Urged The Government To Pass The Bill On Reservation Of Seats In &#8230; on 30 August, 2001 Title: Urged the Government to pass the Bill on Reservation of seats in educational institutions for ST, SC and OBCs.
