A total of 2,272 Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) cases are pending trial in various courts for more than 10 years as on June 30, 2011, Minister of State for Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions V. Narayanasamy Thursday informed the Rajya Sabha.

Narayanasamy said that the central government has decided to set up 71 additional special courts to conduct the CBI cases in the country.

He said that sanction orders, so far, have been issued by the government for setting up of 68 special courts, of which 30 are already functional.

  1. The procedure is so cumbersome, the Special Judicial Magistrates may be burdened with a number of cases. It is also noted that the CBI or dep/ministries of govt. keep more number of cases shown pending for their existence, or discourage decision making progress at Govt. level. The more cases are filed, the more corruption. That is the reason Anna’s struggle.
