Bollywood actor Sanjay Dutt was awarded five years imprisonment under the Arms Act for possessing illegal arms, including AK 56 rifle by the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court flayed Pakistan intelligence agency ISI and mafia don Dawood Ibrahim for hatching a conspiracy in Pakistan, leading to a series of bomb explosions in Mumbai on March 12, 1993, leading to the death of 257 people on Black Friday.

A bench comprising Justices P Sathasivam and B S Chauhan also slammed Custom and Police officials for permitting the entry of large quantities of RDX and explosive material in the commercial capital of India, leading to large-scale loss of lives and property as 13 explosions left 700 injured.

The apex court delivered six judgements running into 2,040 pages, confirming the death sentence of Yakub Memon, describing him as the main conspirator after Dawood Ibrahim and Tiger Memon, who have been declared absconders.

The court, however, reduced the death sentence of 10 others to life imprisonment on the grounds that they were poor and illiterate.

The apex court dismissed all appeals of the accused persons, except two.
