New Delhi, Sep 7 High-profile Rajya Sabha MP and former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh and two former BJP MPs Fagan Singh Kulaste and Mahavir Singh Bhagora were sent to jail till September 19 by a Delhi court for their alleged involvement in the sensational cash-for-vote scam during the July 2008 trust vote in Parliament in the wake of the Indo-US nuclear deal.

All three accused appeared before Special CBI Judge Sangeeta Dhingra Sehgal yesterday after their names had figured in the charge sheet and the court, after taking cognizance of the charge sheet, issued summons to them.

Mr Singh did not appear in the court in the morning and pleaded citing innocence and on medical ground to allow him not to attend the court.

The court, however, had a look on the medical report but there was no report for the period after September 2010.

Wearing white kurta pajama, Amar Singh looked quite hasseled as the securitymen threw a ring around him and he was whisked away in a vehicle for the jail.
