Bishna Ram Bishnoi was yesterday taken to a local court for hearing with his hands cuffed amid tight security after the escape of Bhawari Devi murder accused Kailash Jakhar from the court premises. Lack of adequate security had led to the escape of Jakhar from the Rajasthan high court premises here on June 14 after his accomplices fired at cops. “We had sought permission from the court to put him on hand-cuffs while taking him to the session court today for the hearing of a 2011 kidnapping case pending against him,” Jail Superintendent A R Nyazi said. Two vehicles were escorting Bishnoi’s vehcile right from the jail through the entire route. Taking no risk, police today also closed the gates of the court, from where the assailants had entered on June 14. The gang on June 14 had come to the court to take away Bishnoi for finalising some illegal land deals involving crores of rupees. In the scamper after the firing, Jakhar managed to escape but Bishnoi was unable to do so as he was caught by a policeman. The shootout happened when Bishnoi and Jakhar, who were allegedly involved in disposing of the body of nurse Bhanwari Devi, were being taken back to jail from the court where they were brought for hearing in an another case. Meanwhile, seven persons have been arrested so far in connection with Jakhar’s escape. However, despite joint efforts by the rural police and police commissionerate Jakhar is still out of police hands.
