Home Minister Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan said the investigation into the T.P.Chandrashekharan murder case was progressing in the right direction. The successful operation carried out by the Special Investigation Team to nab three key accused in the case has boosted the morale of Kerala police, he said.
The Minister was addressing a function held as part of the passing-out parade of 188 police personnel at the police parade grounds of the Kerala Armed Police Battalion-III at Vadakkadathukavu near Adoor on Saturday.Mr. Radhakrishnan said the Government would felicitate all members of the SIT in recognition of their brave and skilled operation that has once again proved the supremacy of Kerala Police among various other investigation agencies in the country.
Talking to reporters, later, the Home Minister said the United Democratic Front Government was very much particular that all the accused must be arrested solely on the basis of scientifically proven evidences against them and not to register case against any one on the basis of hearsay and assumptions.He said the SIT comprised the cream of the State police and they have already proved their mettle and striking capability.
The Minister said the Government’s stand was that the accused, whoever he might be, would be sternly dealt with as per the prevailing laws of the land.All the 188 new police constables who were trained at the KAP-III camp have been added to the State police force with the passing out parade.
Praveenkumar from Punthalathazhom in Kollam who has been adjudged the `Allrounder’ during the nine-month training led the march.Mr Praveenkumar and three others, Thomaskutty from Cherthala (Best Indoor trainee), Manesh K.Das from Cherthala (Best Outdoor trainee) and Jagadeesh Krishnan from Pathanamthitta (Best Shooter) received prizes from the Home Minister on the occasion.
