The Delhi High Court became the third in the country after the Kerala and Madras courts to declare assets of its 42 judges.

On Friday, the assets were made public on its official website. Justice Valmiki J Mehta, however, struck a different note by refusing to divulge details of his fixed assets claiming “right of privacy”.

“Exercising my right of privacy and due to personal concerns, the details of the fixed deposits in banks are not being put on the website. However, such details are with the Chief Justice and all other requisite authorities,” Justice Mehta said in his declaration form.

Last year, the Supreme Court had put the details of their judges’ assets on the website.

The decision comes in the backdrop of a High Court verdict, in which it had said that declaration of assets to Chief Justices was mandatory and such information should be made public
