ELP’s co-founder Vikram Nankani among 11 designated as senior counsel by Bombay High Court

ELP’s co-founder Vikram NankaniVikram Nankani, co-founder and partner of Mumbai-headquartered law firm Economic Law Practice (ELP) and head of litigation and dispute resolution has been designated as senior counsel by the Bombay High Court. Nankani, 52, will retire as partner with the law firm with immediate effect as required under the regulations.
“Vikram shall in his capacity as senior counsel continue to work with the relevant ELP services team on all ongoing clients, and matters, that he is concerned with,” said ELP’s managing partner Rohan Shah. “The clients and the team will now have a further value addition from Vikram as senior counsel.”

A qualified lawyer since 1986, Nankani is also a fellow of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb), London and a director of its India branch. His areas of specialisation are tax including indirect tax and corporate commercial litigation and arbitration.

“This will be a big responsibility and I shall continue to contribute towards the development of law with best of my abilities,” Nankani told ET.

The Bombay High Court had on September 29 issued a notification and designated 11 lawyers as senior counsel. These include Anarkali Agni, Sanjay K Singhvi, VK Ramabhadran, Prasad Sudhir Dani and Mustafa Saleh Doctor, among others.

Vaish Associates partner and head Ajay Vohra was designated as senior counsel by the Delhi High Court last month while Bangalore saw the elevation of Poovayya & Co managing partner Sajan Poovayya.
