A court in Coimbatore today sentenced an insurance agent of a public sector firm to two years rigorous imprisonment in a cheating case.
CBI’s anti-corruption wing registered the case against New India Assurance Company’s agent K Srinivasan on allegations that between January and March 2006, he misappropriated funds collected from various customers and issued fake and forged policy certificates, a CBI release said.
Coimbatore Chief Judicial Magistrate R Madhura Sekharan also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on Srinivasan under relevant sections of IPC, the release said.
