Bangalore, Former Karnataka chief minister H D Kumaraswamy today got temporary respite for a day from appearing in the Lokayukta Special court which was hearing a case under prevention of corruption act.

The Lokayukta court has taken up a private complaint filed by a city-based lawyer accusing Kumaraswamy and his wife Anita for favouring a mining company, indulged in illegal mining, in renewing its permit when he was the chief minister and sanctioning land to a Housing Cooperative Society and in turn receiving a house site in the name of Anita.

The court had summoned the couple to appear last week while he sought exemption under medical grounds.

In High Court, single bench judge Justice L Narayanaswamy reserved for orders the anticipatory bail plea by Kumaraswamy for tomorrow.

He also allowed a day’s exemption to him from appearing in the Lokayukta court.
