First international office of LKS (Lakshmikumaran & Sridharan ) was opened on Friday in Geneva. SARL (the Geneva-based consultancy )is the new branch of LKS which will service India and other developing countries in WTO disputes. The office is in Les Nations on Avenue Giuseppe Motta
S Seetharaman, Delhi senior partner said that since LKS has already done few WTO disputes in the past so it would like to do more. The main thing is to provide service to developing countries in WTO disputes and give consultancy to these developing countries on various issues like capacity building or a review of their legal system and others related like European trade remedy laws – antidumping, subsidies and safeguards and public international laws and laws of the World Customs Organization
He also said that LKS is already representing in one major case for the government of India in the US but don’t want to restrict to the government of India only and most probably LKS is the first Asian law firm to handle WTO cases in Geneva.
LKS joint partners are NLU Jodhpur 2006-graduate Atul Sharma and 2009 NLU Jodhpur-graduate Adarsh Ramanujan.
