NGT sent summons to Delhi govt official on action plan on climate change

NEW DELHI: The National Green Tribunal (NGT) has summoned the Environment Department official, Delhi for the entire information about the changes made by the government in the State Action Plan (SAPCC) on climate change.

A bench headed by  Raghuvendra S Rathore and expert member Satyawan Singh Garbyal directed the Deputy Secretary or concerned senior scientist of the department to appear before it on October 25.

The bench said that a draft action plan was prepared in September 2016. However, the lawyers of the Delhi Government were unable to provide any updated information about the amendments to the action plan. The bench further added that, therefore, the updated information proposed by the State Government should be made known to court.

The order was passed after the environment department informed the tribunal that it has decided to make certain amendments to the SAPCC.
