Raj Thackeray appears in Kalamb court, gets bail

A court in Osmanabad district of Maharashtra today gave bail to MNS President Raj Thackeray, facing a case related to the violence during his party’s anti-North Indian agitation in 2008.

The bail was given on a personal bond of Rs 15,000.

State transport buses were damaged and stone-pelting had taken place at many places during the 2008 agitation of MNS in the district. Raj is facing cases for his allegedly inflammatory speeches during the period at many places in the state.

The Kalamb court, which had issued a warrant against him for not appearing earlier, also imposed a fine of Rs 500 on Raj Thackeray.

Yesterday, he had appeared before courts in Osmanabad city and Paranda in the district in similar cases, where too he got bail.

The MNS leader, who had announced that he was visiting Osmanabad and other parts of Marathwada for seeing the drought situation, has drawn flak from rival political parties which said it is in fact a court-tour and not a drought-tour.
