A school teacher in Bhavsi village of Bulandshahr district in Uttar Pradesh was Friday arrested and jailed under the stringent Dalit Act for brutally caning an 11-year old boy for his refusal to wash the school utensils.According to an official, teacher Pradeep Sharma caned Deepak Dec 29 so badly on his knuckles that his finger got fractured.
The caning was for Deepak’s refusal to wash the school utensils that were used to serve the mid-day meal to schoolchildren.
The official said that a preliminary inquiry by a five-member team of local government officials confirmed that the teacher used to force the boy to wash used utensils every day.
Angry over Deepak’s refusal, the teacher went on hitting his knuckles until the little boy fell down crying.
Pradeep Sharma has been arrested and sent to jail, the official said.
