At least three public sector undertakings have expressed interest in executing the Supreme Court’s plan to augment its security by putting up electric fencing along its boundary coupled with audio-visual control and alarm system, official sources said Saturday.

The companies have responded to a notice inviting expression of interest floated by the apex court.

Sources, aware of the progress in the project, said the public sector undertakings will be “telling us how to go about the project. Once things are finalised the tenders would be floated for the execution of work”.

Soon after the bomb blast outside the Delhi High Court Sep 7, 2011, that killed 15 people, the apex court opted for a parliament-type security cover to protect itself from terror strikes.

The expression of interest sought by the apex court said that the non-lethal electric fence was intended to prevent intrusion.

The court also sought the integration of the proposed electric fencing with audio-visual system control and alarm with the existing security paraphernalia, including CCTV.
