Three new judges sworn in at the Bombay High Court.

Three new judges were sworn in at the Bombay High Court on Thursday. Chief Justice Mohit Shah administered the oath of office to Kalidas Laxmanrao Wadane, Indira K. Jain and Shalini Phansalkar Joshi.With this, the strength of judges at the court has gone up to 67.

Official sources told The Hindu that Mr. Wadane had been the Principal District Judge, Pune, before the new appointment and Ms. Jain had been the Principal of a government law college.

Ms. Joshi had been the Registrar-General of the High Court. Prior to that, she had been the Principal Judge at the city civil and sessions court.

She delivered the historic Shakti mills judgment in which three repeat offenders were given death sentence for the rape of a photojournalist and a telephone operator.

The new judges will start work on January 5.
