Trace the source of money used in cash-for-vote scam: SC to DP

New Delhi, Sep 2 The Supreme Court today directed Delhi Police to find the source of money in cash-for-vote scam.

A bench comprising Justices Aftab Alam and R M Lodha gave another four weeks time to Delhi police to inform the court about the source of money allegedly used to buy MP’s during 2008 confidence motion against Manmohan Singh government following withdrawal of support by left parties on the issue of Indo-US nuclear deal.

Delhi Police has already filed a charge sheet. Those charge sheeted have been summoned by the trial court on September 6.

They include former Samajwadi Party general secretary Amar Singh, former aide of Senior BJP leader L K Advani Sudheendra Kulkarni, Sohail Hindustani, a BJP activist and former aide of Amar Singh Sanjeev Saxena.

Saxena and Hindustani are already in jail.

Delhi Police today informed the Supreme Court that the investigation in the case is almost over.

Three BJP MPs including Ashok Argal had produced wads of currency notes worth several crores rupees in Lok Sabha alleging that the money had been paid by the ruling party to win them over.
