A Bangalore court here Tuesday directed Karnataka Police to produce Kerala-based People’s Democratic Party (PDP) leader Abdul Nasser Maudany before it by June 23 in connection with the 2008 serial bomb blasts here.

Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Venkatesh Gurigi issued a non-bailable warrant against Maudany, who is one of the 32 charged for the July 25, 2008 blasts that killed a woman and injured over 20.

Gurigi said the PDP leader should be produced before him on or before June 23.

Maudany was named as an accused along with five others in the additional chargesheet filed by Karnataka Police Friday. The police had named 26 others in the first chargesheet filed earlier.

Maudany is the 31st accused in the case. The main accused is T. Nazir, who is considered to be Lashkar-e-Toiba’s south India commander.

Nazir is said to have told police that he had discussed with Maudany about plans to carry out the blasts in Bangalore. Maudany has denied his involvement.

A series of nine low intensity crude bombs exploded in east and south Bangalore within a span of 45 minutes. A woman waiting at a bus stop in east Bangalore was killed on the spot.
