The infrastructure needs immediate revamp.\u2019<\/p>\n<p>She said the state government was toying with the idea of coming up with an action plan for lawyers and others involved with the legal profession.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018It is like an unorganised sector. We are thinking of extending insurance cover, provident fund, health policy and other benefits to them to improve their quality of life,\u2019 the chief minister said at a programme marking celebration of 150 years of the Calcutta High Court.<\/p>\n<p>Banerjee also suggested a pilot project for extending housing facility to legal professionals called \u2018Own your own House\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>\u2018The state government will provide all facilities. The beneficiaries can be divided into three categories based on their capability,\u2019 she said.<\/p>\n<p>Union Law Minister M. Veerappa Moily said he had discussed with the life insurance authorities for extending insurance cover to lawyers and others attached to the legal profession.<\/p>\n<p>Launching the ambitious \u2018Mission Mode Programme for reduction of pendency of arrears in courts\u2019 programme, Moily said it aims to dispose off 40 percent of cases in subordinate courts.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Friday emphasised on the need to revamp the infrastructure in the courts for fast disposal of pending cases.
