Sachan, who was found dead in a jail toilet.<\/p>\n<p>The plea was filed by the doctor&#8217;s family, which claimed that the Uttar Pradesh government was engaged in a cover-up and trying to projest the death as a case of suicide.<\/p>\n<p>The apex court bench of Justice Altamas Kabir and Justice Cyriac Joseph asked counsel Kamini Jaiswal, appearing for Sachan&#8217;s family, to route the petition through the court registry. The court said this when she mentioned the matter before it Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>Sachan, the prime accused in chief medical officer B.P. Singh&#8217;s murder, was June 22 found dead in mysterious circumstances in the washroom of Lucknow district jail hospital where he was under treatment.<\/p>\n<p>He was found dead just a day before he was to be taken to court with other three accused &#8211; Ram Krishna Verma, Anand Tewari and Vinod Sharma.<\/p>\n<p>His doctor brother R.K. Sachan, wife Malti Sachan and son moved the court, claiming that the Uttar Pradesh government was engaged in a cover-up in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The petition said that the advocate general of the state was wrongly instructed to inform the Lucknow bench of the Allahabad High Court that the post-mortem examination of Sachan was conducted in the presence of the victim&#8217;s brother and wife.<\/p>\n<p>The petition said they both had to file an affidavit negating the claim by the advocate general, forcing the high court to observe that it was faced with a \u201cpiquant situation\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>The petition said how could a person commit suicide by hanging himself from his belt, as claimed by police. The ligature mark on Sachan&#8217;s neck raised the suspicion that it was not a matter of suicide.<\/p>\n<p>Sachan was arrested for his alleged role in the murder of B.P. Singh in an attempt to put a lid on the scam involving financial irregularities and embezzlement of National Rural Health Mission funds.<\/p>\n<p>B.P. Singh was shot dead by unidentified people April 2 morning, when he went for a walk.<\/p>\n<p>Sachan\u2019s name also figured in the murder of another chief medical officer, Vinod Kumar Arya, who too was shot dead in October last year when he went for a morning walk.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Supreme Court will Friday hear a petition seeking a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into the death of Lucknow deputy chief medical officer Y.S.
