He will replace Gopal Subramanium, who quit recently after the government decided to field Nariman in his place in the 2G case.<\/p>\n<p>Sources said Law Minister Salman Khursheed spoke to Nariman early this week to seek his consent for the high-profile job. \u201cHe has given his consent and a formal notification will be issued next week after the Appointments Committee of Cabinet gives its approval,\u201d a source said.<\/p>\n<p>Nariman confirmed to The Sunday Express that he had been informed by the government about its decision to appoint him SG. Asked about his priorities, he said, \u201cMy endeavour would be to represent the government in court to the best of my ability.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Nariman will join the government at a time when it is facing heat from a charged-up court, which has handed out a series of adverse orders.
