{"id":13013,"date":"2011-09-02T00:46:50","date_gmt":"2011-09-01T19:16:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=13013"},"modified":"2011-09-02T00:46:50","modified_gmt":"2011-09-01T19:16:50","slug":"black-money-sc-reserves-its-order-on-centres-review-petition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/black-money-sc-reserves-its-order-on-centres-review-petition","title":{"rendered":"Black money: SC reserves its order on Centre&#8217;s review petition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Sep 1, The Supreme Court today reserved its judgement on the review petition filed by the Centre against its earlier order constituting an SIT headed by a retired apex court judge in the black money case.<\/p>\n<p>A bench comprising Justices Altamas Kabir and S S Nijjar fixed September 20 for delivery of the order on the government petition.<\/p>\n<p>A bench comprising Justices B Sudershan Reddy(since retired) and S S Nijjar had appointed SIT to be headed by two former Supreme Court Judges namely Justice B P Jeevan Reddy as Chairman and Justice M B Shah as Vice-Chairman since the Court was not satisfied with the investigation by the Enforcement Directorate in the case.<\/p>\n<p>The apex court reserved its verdict today after hearing all the parties, including government and counsel for the petitioners.<\/p>\n<p>Attorney General of India G E Vahanwati appeared for the Centre and senior counsel Mr Anil Diwan appeared for the petitioner Mr Ram Jethmalani and former Punjab police chief Julio F Ribeiro.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre has contended that the order constituting SIT is illegal as investigation is the job of the investigating agency set up under the relevant statutes.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi, Sep 1, The Supreme Court today reserved its judgement on the review petition filed by the Centre against its earlier order constituting an SIT headed by a retired apex court judge in the black money case.
