New Delhi, Sep 2, Coming down heavily on the government for levelling “false charges” against him and other members of team Anna, Arvind Kejriwal today denied that he owes dues of Rs nine lakh for violating job contract norms and said the Income-Tax department was working under political pressure.<\/p>\n
“I have not violated any job contract norms and I am ready for any type of enquiry against me in this matter,” he said at a press conference here.<\/p>\n
Mr Kejriwal was served a notice by the I-T department on August 5 to pay dues of Rs nine lakh to the government.<\/p>\n
He had resigned from the job in Indian Revenue Service in February 2006.<\/p>\n
According to the notice, Mr Kejriwal, who spearheaded Anna Hazare’s movement for the Jan Lokpal Bill, violated the service bond conditions and his resignation will only be accepted if he pays the dues.<\/p>\n
Targeting the government, he said the I-T department was under pressure of political leaders. “The notice has not been given by the I-T department but by its political bosses.” Questioning the timing of the notice, he asked why is the government demanding the dues after four years.<\/p>\n
The RTI activist also alleged that his relatives in other parts of the country are being troubled by the government.<\/p>\n
“It is in fact the government which owes me my PF money,” he said.<\/p>\n
Asked why did not he reveal about the notice earlier, Mr Kejriwal said, “We (team Anna) were very busy that time because of the agitation to focus on this notice.”<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
