Lakhimpur Kheri\/Lucknow, Sep 4 Tension prevailed in Mohammadi tehsil of the district today, a day after two lawyers were gunned down by lekhpals during a clash.<\/p>\n

Almost all the lawyers of district, civil and other lower courts in the state has called for indefinite strike against the killing from tomorrow.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
State Special Director General of Police (Law and Order) Brij Lal said in Lucknow today the situation was under control and additional forces have been deployed to control the law and order problem.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
More than 35 Lekhpals have been booked so far in connection wih the firing while FIRs have been registered against the Lawyers as well as against the Lekhpals over the clash. Two companies of PAC have been rushed to Mohammadi to control the situation.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
A report from Mohammadi said that situation was normal and all the markets were open.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Tomorrow, UP Bar Council chairman Ramakant Mishra, would be reaching Mohammadi to hold a meeting with the agitating lawyers.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Mr Mishra has already demanded booking the accused Lekhpal under National Security Act (NSA) and Rs 50 lakh as compensation to each of the family members of the deceased lawyers.<\/p>\n

The cremation of the body of the two laywers Pradip Dikshit and Mukul Tiwari were done in a peaceful note this morning.<\/p>\n

Two lawyers were killed and another person injured when a Lekhpal fired from his licensed gun after a minor altercation during a meeting of the Lekhpals Association in Mohammadi Tehsil premises yesterday.<\/p>\n

Uttar Pradesh government ordered a magisterial probe into the shootout while Divisional Commissioner Prashant Trivedi and Inspector General, Lucknow range, Subesh Kumar Singh airdashed to the spot.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Lekhpal Krishna Awasthi allegedly opened fire from his licenced rifle, killing lawyers Pradip Dikshit and Mukul Tiwari on the spot.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Another person was wounded in the incident, said the police.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Remarks of some lawyers provoked Awasthi during the meeting of Lekhpal Association, police said.<\/p>\n
