{"id":13067,"date":"2011-09-06T12:46:54","date_gmt":"2011-09-06T07:16:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=13067"},"modified":"2011-09-06T12:46:54","modified_gmt":"2011-09-06T07:16:54","slug":"lok-sabha-drops-motion-for-impeachment-of-justice-soumitra-sen","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/lok-sabha-drops-motion-for-impeachment-of-justice-soumitra-sen","title":{"rendered":"Lok Sabha drops Motion for impeachment of Justice Soumitra Sen"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Lok Sabha today dropped the Motion for the impeachment of Justice Soumitra Sen of the Calcutta High Court after President Pratibha Devisingh Patil accepted his resignation yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>Union Law Minister Salman Khurshid moved the motion to drop impeachment proceedings against Sen as soon as the Lok Sabha met at 1400 hrs for its post-lunch sitting.<\/p>\n<p>Speaker Meira Kumar put it to vote before the House, which adopted the motion.<\/p>\n<p>The Rajya Sabha has already adopted the impeachment motion against Justice Sen.<\/p>\n<p>Justice Sen was held guilty by the Council of States last month on charges of misappropriating Rs 33.23 lakh in a 1983 case when he was appointed a receiver by the High Court.
