New Delhi, Sep 6 Registrar of Copyright J R Raghvan today told the Delhi High Court that there was a huge shortage of manpower due to which the process of digitalisation of records can not be initiated by his department.<\/p>\n
Appearing before Justice Gita Mittal, Mr Raghvan said it will take a minimum 10 months to one year to complete the computerisation, then only the registration of copyright can be done online.<\/p>\n
Justice Mittal had last week summoned Mr Raghvan, General Patents Designs and Trademarks Controller P H Kurian, Drugs Controller General of India Surender Singh and Registrar of Companies Manmohan Juneja to suggest steps to be taken so as to avoid duplication of brand names being registered in their respective offices.<\/p>\n
There should be synchronisation and transparency so that a brand name registered with one authority should not be registered again with the other authority, the Court said.<\/p>\n
The Court was hearing a petition filed by lawyer Saikrishna Rajgopal alleging that a similar name of his US based client having a well known International name “Disney Enterprises inc” was granted by the Registrar of companies and had approached the Court for quashing it.<\/p>\n
Saikrishna had approached the Court to quash the name of Disney Realtors Pvt Ltd as his clients company, a US based entity with International fame, was already having a registered brand by this name.<\/p>\n
The court thought it fit that to avoid duplication of the registration of a brand name being registered with various agencies, to seek suggestions from the heads of all the four authorities and called them to the court to give their suggestions in this regard.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
