{"id":13111,"date":"2011-09-07T12:33:43","date_gmt":"2011-09-07T07:03:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=13111"},"modified":"2011-09-07T12:40:23","modified_gmt":"2011-09-07T07:10:23","slug":"spl-court-adjourns-hearing-on-jaya-assets-case-to-sep-14","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/spl-court-adjourns-hearing-on-jaya-assets-case-to-sep-14","title":{"rendered":"Spl court adjourns hearing on Jaya assets case to Sep 14"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Bangalore, Sep 6 The Special Court hearing the disproportionate assets case involving Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today adjourned further hearing to September 14 following a request from the defence lawyer.<\/p>\n<p>Defence counsel A Kandaswamy today sought a two-week adjournment of the hearing of arguments citing the pending of appeal by Ms Jayalalithaa with the Supreme Court where she has sought exemption from personal appearance in the lower court under Section 313 of the CrPC.<\/p>\n<p>B M Mallikarjunaiah, Judge, Special Court, and 36th Additional City Civil and Sessions Court, had last month rejected two separate pleas by Ms Jayalalithaa seeking permission to answer the court&#8217;s questions under Section 313 by way of written statement or through video-conferencing.<\/p>\n<p>Later, the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister had approached the Supreme Court with an appeal and further hearing of the case had been posted to September 12.<\/p>\n<p>Citing this, Ms Jayalalithaa&#8217;s counsel sought two weeks time, while public prosecutor Sandesh Chauta said the case can be posted for September 13.
