{"id":13331,"date":"2011-09-22T00:55:31","date_gmt":"2011-09-21T19:25:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=13331"},"modified":"2011-09-22T00:55:58","modified_gmt":"2011-09-21T19:25:58","slug":"supreme-court-permits-centre-to-notify-majithia-panel-recommendations","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/supreme-court-permits-centre-to-notify-majithia-panel-recommendations","title":{"rendered":"Supreme Court permits Centre to notify Majithia panel recommendations"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi,\u00a0The Supreme Court today permitted the Central government to issue notification for the implementation of Majithia committee recommendations for hike in wages for journalists and non-journalists.<\/p>\n<p>A bench comprising Justices Dalveer Bhandari and Deepak Verma, however, made it clear that it was only an interim decision and shall be subject to the outcome of the present petition.<\/p>\n<p>Newspaper owners have been opposing the recommendation of Majithia committee on the grounds of financial implications of the proposal.<\/p>\n<p>The committee has recommended a hike of over 30 per cent in the wages of journalists and non-journalists employed in the newspaper industry both in electronic and print media.<\/p>\n<p>Newspaper owner associations, which also includes news agencies, are contending that they are not in a position to bear the additional burden of implementation of the recommendations of the committee due to financial constraints.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>New Delhi,\u00a0The Supreme Court today permitted the Central government to issue notification for the implementation of Majithia committee recommendations for hike in wages for journalists and non-journalists.
