{"id":13776,"date":"2011-10-15T10:44:00","date_gmt":"2011-10-15T05:14:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=13776"},"modified":"2011-10-15T10:44:00","modified_gmt":"2011-10-15T05:14:00","slug":"ten-years-later-man-jailed-for-trying-to-bribe-cop","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/ten-years-later-man-jailed-for-trying-to-bribe-cop","title":{"rendered":"Ten years later, man jailed for trying to bribe cop"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify\">An industrialist in Jaipur was Friday sentenced to one year in prison for offering to bribe a local police inspector ten years ago, police said.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">A special court for anti-corruption cases in Jaipur handed out the sentence to Om Prakash Mundara, owner of Mundara Enterprises.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cHe had offered money to a circle officer (CO), Jhotwara, in 2001 to lodge a case under sections of SC\/ST Atrocities Act,\u201d a police officer told IANS.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">He added that the circle officer, Umendra Singh, complained about the offer of bribe to the state\u2019s anti-corruption bureau (ACB).<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">\u201cAn ACB team trapped Om Prakash offering the bribe. He was booked under the Prevention of Corruption Act and arrested,\u201d the officer added.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The court has also imposed a fine of Rs.5,000 on the convicted.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify\">The officer said it was a rare case in Rajasthan in which someone who offered the bribe was arrested and convicted for the act.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>An industrialist in Jaipur was Friday sentenced to one year in prison for offering to bribe a local police inspector ten years ago, police said.
