The Chief Judicial Magistrate Kuljeet Pal Singh has adjourned the hearing to transfer the case against pop singer Daler Mehndi on October 28.<\/p>\n
Daler Mehndi, through his counsel BS Sodhi, yesterday opposed the application of complainant in his case seeking shifting of case to other court.<\/p>\n
Bakshish Singh, in his complaint in the case against Mehndi, had submitted an application on September 22 and alleged that court was biased against him and sought the shifting of case to other court.<\/p>\n
JMIC Balwant Singh has adjourned the main case till November 3.<\/p>\n
Patiala police had registered a case against Mehndi and his brother Shamsher Mehndi under various sections of the IPC and the Indian Passport Act on September 19, 2003 on the complaint of Bakshish Singh of Balbehra village among others for allegedly duping them of money on the promise of including them in his troupe during foreign trips.<\/p>\n
Bakshish Singh had alleged that he and others had paid over Rs 2 million each to the Mehndi brothers for help them in immigration to some Western country. He claimed that they had promised to take him and others members of his music and dance troupe abroad and help them settle there.<\/p>\n
Bakshish Singh had said neither were they taken abroad nor did the brothers return their money.<\/p>\n
The singer has been claiming that he was not at all involved in the immigration racket.<\/p>\n
Mehndi was arrested and virtually stripped inside a police station here October 2003 for a search before being interrogated.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
