Allahabad High Court today granted bail to former MP Atiq Ahmed, who is contesting the Uttar Pradesh assembly elections from Allahabad(West) seat on Apna Dal ticket.<\/p>\n
The court said Atiq may be released from jail if there is no other case pending against him.<\/p>\n
Justice D P Singh accepted the bail petition of Atiq, who is presently in Naini jail under a Gangster Act case lodged in the Doomanganj police station in Allahabad.<\/p>\n
Atiq is in jail since Mayawati came to power in 2007 in different cases. He is also the prime accused in the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case.<\/p>\n
It has been said in the petition that Atiq has been granted bail in all other cases.<\/p>\n
