Resul Pookutty and Elizabeth Antony were the centre of attraction during the enrolment session at the Kerala high court on Sunday morning, when a total of 406 candidates took the oath as advocates.<\/p>\n
Resul Pookutty says he is viewing the legal profession seriously, though this may be of some worry to his fans who are more interested in seeing him take his highly acclaimed musical career to new heights.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt was my father\u2019s dream to make me an advocate. Now that I have done the course, I intend to have regular practice and would like to specialise in constitution law and public administration,\u201d he told Deccan Chronicle as fans mobbed him in the court premises.<\/p>\n
Sixty-year-old Elizabeth, a member of the 1993-96 batch of the Kerala Law Academy, was following the path of her famous spouse when she chose to enroll.<\/p>\n
\u201cHe became a lawyer very early in his life and by the time we were married, he had already become a political activist. I too intend to involve myself in social activities through the legal profession,\u201d Elizabeth who retired from her bank job after 35 years last October, told Deccan Chronicle.<\/p>\n
Elizabeth aims to take up the cause of destitute and poor women through her four-year-old NGO \u2018Navoothan Charitable Foundation\u2019 which works out of Antony\u2019s Delhi home and has a branch in Thiruvananthapuram.<\/p>\n
\u201cIt has a legal cell and I will appear for the needy women free of cost. I will be selective as I cannot appear for all who approach me, but try to find out the desperate ones among them who are struggling financially,\u201d she said while coming out of the court along with her elder son Anil Kurien Antony.<\/p>\n
Asked whether she missed her husband on the enrollment occasion, she replied, \u201cI miss him always due to his busy political life, but without his backing I couldn\u2019t have enrolled as a lawyer.\u201d<\/p>\n
