The Delhi High Court Wednesday issued notice to the Delhi government on a plea seeking construction of a pedestrian bridge over the busy Lala Lajpat Rai Marg near Jangpura neighbourhood in south Delhi.<\/p>\n
The bench of Acting Chief Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw issued notices to the transport commissioner, the public works department and Delhi Metro on a petition by the Jangpura Residential Welfare Association.<\/p>\n
The association has sought direction to the government to construct a foot over-bridge which would connect the Jangpura metro station with Jangpura Extension and Pant Nagar neighbourhoods.<\/p>\n
The association said it had been raising the issue with the urban development department for the last six years.<\/p>\n
The absence of a safe option for crossing the road had exposed residents to accident risks, the petition said.<\/p>\n
The court would next hear the case March 28.<\/p>\n
