The Delhi High Court Wednesday directed the Delhi Development Authority (DDA) to start allotting residential plots in north Delhi’s Rohini area from March 19 to 21,000 applicants under a 1981 scheme.<\/p>\n
The division bench of Acting Chief Justice A.K. Sikri and Justice R.S. Endlaw asked the DDA to completed the process for allotment under north Delhi’s Rohini Residential Plot Scheme 1981 it within three months.<\/p>\n
The court’s order came on a petition alleging that the DDA failed to allot 4,000 acres of land to applicants despite a lapse of several years.<\/p>\n
The petition alleged the land owning agency planned to divert the land for developmental projects other than residential.<\/p>\n
The court also asked the Delhi Jal Board to complete the work related to water supply and sewer system for the development of the plots.<\/p>\n
Counsel for the DDA said: “The plots are ready for allotment and the development process, including the provision for water supply and sewer system, of the area is on. It would take a few more months to complete.”<\/p>\n
As per the petition, the DDA assured the court in December 2009 that it would allot 16,000 plots to eligible applicants within 20 months but nothing had been done so far.<\/p>\n
Nearly 21,000 applicants are eligible for allotment of middle-income, low-income and Janata (poor) category plots under the scheme.<\/p>\n
