{"id":18481,"date":"2012-03-23T10:16:56","date_gmt":"2012-03-23T04:46:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=18481"},"modified":"2012-03-23T10:16:56","modified_gmt":"2012-03-23T04:46:56","slug":"pakistani-submits-documents-to-prove-innocence","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/pakistani-submits-documents-to-prove-innocence","title":{"rendered":"&#8216;Pakistani&#8217; submits documents to prove innocence"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A man, accused of of entering India illegally as a Pakistani spy, submitted documents in a Delhi court Thursday to support his claim that he returned to India to settle.<\/p>\n<p>Imran submitted documents claiming that he was a native of Gujarat and returned to India for permanent settlement before Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Vinod Yadav.<\/p>\n<p>The court had Tuesday granted interim bail to Imran so that he can submit documents in the court to prove he has applied to the central government to permanently settle down in India.<\/p>\n<p>Imran and his wife Soofia Kanwal, who lived in Karachi, were arrested in December. Police said the couple entered India at the behest of Pakistan&#8217;s Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) agency.<\/p>\n<p>Imran told the court that he was an Indian by birth and was living in Gujarat. He went to Pakistan at the age 15 and had acquired Pakistani citizenship but then sought to return to India.<\/p>\n<p>He alleged that he was implicated wrongly because police gave false details about him.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>A man, accused of of entering India illegally as a Pakistani spy, submitted documents in a Delhi court Thursday to support his claim that he returned to India to settle.
