The Delhi Police Thursday told a special court here that efforts are being made to unearth the money trail in the 2008 cash-for-votes case and they are following the Supreme Court guidelines in the probe.<\/p>\n
“The investigation was taken up in accordance with the guidelines and directions of the Supreme Court to probe all the aspects from all corners,\u201d police said before Special Judge Sangita Dhingra Sehgal.<\/p>\n
Police said this while replying to an application by accused in the scam and former Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) MP Faggan Singh Kulaste requesting court to direct police to trace the money trail and other aspects of the case.<\/p>\n
“Every effort was made to unearth the trail of money but no evidence could come on record in this regard. It is stated that a thorough and professional investigation has been made and the statements made to the contrary are only high imagination of the accused\/applicant (Kulaste),” police said.<\/p>\n
The case is linked to the developments July 22, 2008 when BJP MPs Faggan Singh Kulaste, Mahavir Bhagora and Ashok Argal waved wads of currency notes in the Lok Sabha ahead of a trust vote, alleging they were given the money to vote in favour of the Manmohan Singh government.<\/p>\n
Police, in their charge sheet filed earlier, held that during the investigation sufficient evidence had come on record that on the morning of July 22, 2008, former Samajwadi Party leader Amar Singh hatched a criminal conspiracy with his secretary to deliver cash of Rs.1 crore as illegal gratification.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
