{"id":20494,"date":"2012-06-01T16:42:39","date_gmt":"2012-06-01T11:12:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=20494"},"modified":"2012-06-01T16:44:05","modified_gmt":"2012-06-01T11:14:05","slug":"court-fee-marriage-bills-tabled-in-delhi-assembly","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/court-fee-marriage-bills-tabled-in-delhi-assembly","title":{"rendered":"\u201dCourt fee, marriage bills tabled in Delhi assembly\u201d"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Court Fees (Delhi Amendment) Bill, 2012 \u2014 which proposes a 10-fold hike in fees \u2014 was introduced in the Assembly on Thursday.<\/p>\n<p>The Bill, approved by the Delhi cabinet in April, seeks to do away with stamp paper of all denominations and proposes a shift to the electronic-stamping facility, a move aimed at ensuring hassle-free transactions.<\/p>\n<p>Once the new rate comes into effect, revenue collection from court fees is expected to go up to Rs 500 crore annually from Rs 50 crore.<\/p>\n<p>The Delhi government also tabled the Delhi Registration of Marriage Bill in the Assembly. If passed, the bill will make it mandatory for every couple to register their marriage within 60 days of the wedding. Failure to do so will fetch a penalty of Rs 10,000.
