Amid allegations of a number of bloomers in the question paper, the Supreme Court on Monday stayed the conduct of the final examination for the Rajasthan State Judicial Services exams slated for June 30, for appointment to over 17,000 posts.<\/p>\n
The apex court stayed the exam after senior counsel Raju Ramachandran and counsel Sanjay Jain appearing for some of the aggrieved candidates complained that conduct of the exam was mired in controversy owing to conflicting reports by two committees which examined the bloomers.<\/p>\n
A bench of justices H L Gokhale and Ranjana Prakash Desai also issued notice to the Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RJPSC) which conducted the preliminary exams in which the bloomers occurred.<\/p>\n
According to the aggrieved candidates several thousands of students appeared for the preliminary exams conducted by the commission which entailed a maximum of 120 marks for the multiple choice pattern.<\/p>\n
The preliminary exam is a qualifying process for the main exam scheduled on June 30.<\/p>\n
Following complaints that the question paper and the model answers were wrongly framed, the RJPSC appointed an expert committee which recommended deletion of 14 questions as they were wrongly framed.<\/p>\n
Though it deleted the 14 questions, the RJPSC chose to retain the maximum of 120 marks on account of which several students were disqualified from appearing in the mains.<\/p>\n
Aggrieved some of the candidates approached the state high court which appointed a senior advocate as an amicus curiae to examine the issue.<\/p>\n
The amicus curiae in his report suggested deletions of more questions on account of which some of the candidates who had qualified stood eliminated from the main exams.<\/p>\n
