{"id":21755,"date":"2012-07-15T11:36:50","date_gmt":"2012-07-15T06:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=21755"},"modified":"2012-07-15T11:36:50","modified_gmt":"2012-07-15T06:06:50","slug":"most-rape-in-mp-up-delhi-tops-in-crime-against-kids","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/most-rape-in-mp-up-delhi-tops-in-crime-against-kids","title":{"rendered":"Most rape in MP, UP; Delhi tops in Crime against kids"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Delhi<\/strong><\/span> tops a list of states where highest number of crime against children were committed in 2011 while <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Madhya Pradesh and Uttar Pradesh<\/strong> <\/span>recorded the highest number of rape and murder cases of kids respectively.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A total of 33,098 cases of crime against children were reported in the country in 2011 as compared to 26,694 cases in 2010, suggesting an increase of 24 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0According to the <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>National Crime Records Bureau<\/strong><\/span>, the rate of crime against children was highest in Delhi (25.4 per cent) followed by Andaman and Nicobar Islands (20.3 per cent), Chandigarh and Chhattisgarh (7 per cent each), Madhya Pradesh (6 per cent) and Goa (5.1 per cent) as compared to the national average of 2.7.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A total of 1,514 cases of murder of children, including infanticides, were reported in the country in 2011 against 1,508 cases in 2010. Uttar Pradesh has reported the highest number of such cases (326), accounting for 22.9 per cent of the total murder cases reported in the country.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Arunachal Pradesh, Mizoram, Daman and Diu, Lakshadweep and Puducherry did not report any case of child murder in 2011<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0A total of 7,112 cases of child rape were reported in the country in 2011 as compared to 5,484 in 2010, accounting for an increase of 29.7 per cent.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Madhya Pradesh has reported the highest number of rape cases (1,262) followed by Uttar Pradesh (1,088) and Maharashtra (818). These three states altogether accounted for 44.5 per cent of the total child rape cases reported in the country.<\/p>\n<p>A total of 15,282 cases of kidnapping and abduction of children were reported in 2011 as compared to 10,670 cases in the previous year accounting for a significant increase of 43.2 per cent. Uttar Pradesh (3,739) followed by Delhi (3,528) have accounted for 24.5 per cent and 23.1 per cent respectively of the total cases reported in the country. Twenty-seven cases of &#8216;buying of girls&#8217; and 113 cases of &#8216;selling of girls&#8217; for prostitution were reported in the country during 2011 against 78 and 130 such cases respectively in 2010.
