{"id":22021,"date":"2012-07-25T16:41:17","date_gmt":"2012-07-25T11:11:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22021"},"modified":"2012-07-25T16:42:47","modified_gmt":"2012-07-25T11:12:47","slug":"pil-filed-against-foreign-trip-of-karnataka-legislators","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/pil-filed-against-foreign-trip-of-karnataka-legislators","title":{"rendered":"PIL filed against foreign trip of Karnataka legislators"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>PIL<\/strong><\/span> has been filed in the <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Karnataka High Court<\/strong><\/span> praying for the issuance of a <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>writ of mandamus<\/strong><\/span> directing the state government to drop a proposed foreign trip of legislators in the wake of severe drought.<\/p>\n<p>The government had planned to send as many as 250 legislators on foreign trip at an estimated cost of Rs 15 crore,<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong> &#8220;which is not only seems inappropriate but will also cause a huge loss to the state exchequer,&#8221;<\/strong><\/span> the petitioner said.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>&#8220;In such a situation instead of giving importance to handle the drought situation and helping the farmers and the public, the legislators are planning a trip to foreign countries, which is very inappropriate&#8230;,&#8221;<\/strong><\/span> he stated.
