{"id":22029,"date":"2012-07-25T17:58:47","date_gmt":"2012-07-25T12:28:47","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22029"},"modified":"2012-07-25T17:58:47","modified_gmt":"2012-07-25T12:28:47","slug":"suresh-kalmadi-wont-attend-olympics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/suresh-kalmadi-wont-attend-olympics","title":{"rendered":"Suresh Kalmadi won\u2019t attend Olympics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Suresh Kalmadi<\/strong><\/span> will not be able to attend Olympics opening ceremony as <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Delhi High Court<\/strong><\/span> on Wednesday denied permission.The court, while delivering its judgement, also claimed that Kalmadi can not leave India till Jul 27, the day when Olympics opening ceremony would be taken place. <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>&#8220;You (Kalmadi) cannot remain a passive spectator,&#8221;<\/strong><\/span> added the court.<\/p>\n<p>However, the court stated that Suresh Kalmadi can attend the Games after its opening ceremony but can not visit the venue in his official capacity.The International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF) will take its final decision on Kalmadi after receiving a copy of the high court order. IAAF is expected to decide whether Suresh Kalmadi can attend its meetings or not.<\/p>\n<p>The court on Tuesday reserved its order but slammed the sacked CWG OC chairman saying,<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong> &#8220;You say you don&#8217;t represent India but you are going as a member of Asia Athletic Association which represents the whole of Asia and India is of course a part of it.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>Suresh Kalmadi, who was the chairman of Commonwealth Games Organising Committee (CWG OC), is one of the main accused in the irregularities that were made during the Games.
