{"id":22065,"date":"2012-07-26T17:55:42","date_gmt":"2012-07-26T12:25:42","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22065"},"modified":"2012-07-26T17:55:49","modified_gmt":"2012-07-26T12:25:49","slug":"no-time-limit-on-appointment-on-compassionate-ground","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/no-time-limit-on-appointment-on-compassionate-ground","title":{"rendered":"No time-limit on appointment on compassionate ground"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Centre<\/strong><\/span> on Thursday removed the<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong> time-limit of three years for appointment on compassionate ground<\/strong> <\/span>of a dependent of a government servant who has died during service or retired on medical grounds.It has also asked secretary of concerned ministries or departments under it to decide on cases that are as old as five years.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The decision to withdraw the time-limit was taken after consultation with<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong> Ministry of Law and Justice, the Department of Personnel and Training<\/strong><\/span> said in an official memorandum issued today.<\/p>\n<p>The Centre said that while considering such belated requests it was, however, to be kept in view that the concept of such appointment is largely related to the need for immediate assistance to the family of the government servant in order to relieve it from economic distress.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><em>\u00a0&#8220;The very fact that the family has been able to manage somehow all these years should normally be taken as adequate proof that the family had some dependable means of subsistence.\u201d &#8220;Therefore, examination of such cases call for a great deal of circumspection.
