{"id":22100,"date":"2012-07-28T12:30:16","date_gmt":"2012-07-28T07:00:16","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22100"},"modified":"2012-07-28T12:30:16","modified_gmt":"2012-07-28T07:00:16","slug":"no-use-of-i-pad-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/no-use-of-i-pad-in-court","title":{"rendered":"No use of i-pad in court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The judge hearing the<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong> 2G spectrum<\/strong><\/span> case on Friday expressed displeasure over use of an<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong> i-pad<\/strong><\/span> to record the proceedings yesterday and warned against such a practice in future.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0After the day&#8217;s proceedings were over with the recording of testimony of a prosecution witness, <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>Special CBI Judge O P Saini<\/strong><\/span> drew the attention of the lawyers that an i-pad was found inside the courtroom in live recording mode yesterday.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0The counsel appearing for Essar Teleholdings Limited, an accused firm in the case, submitted that the device belonged to an employee of the company and it was left inadvertently in the court. <span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong>&#8220;The act is totally indefensible,&#8221;<\/strong> <\/span>he added.<\/p>\n<p>\u00a0However, the judge said<span style=\"color: #800000;text-decoration: underline\"><strong> &#8220;it is apparent that court proceedings were being recorded secretly and surreptitiously in an unauthorised manner.&#8221;<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n<p>\u00a0Taking note that the counsel has<span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"> &#8220;profusely apologised,&#8221; the judge let off the employee with warning that such incidents should not be repeated in future by anyone.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline\"><em>\u00a0&#8220;i-pad be returned to the concerned person after deleting the recording therefrom.
