{"id":22154,"date":"2012-07-30T14:33:54","date_gmt":"2012-07-30T09:03:54","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22154"},"modified":"2012-07-30T14:36:06","modified_gmt":"2012-07-30T09:06:06","slug":"no-stay-on-gujarat-high-court-order-on-2002-riot-case","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/no-stay-on-gujarat-high-court-order-on-2002-riot-case","title":{"rendered":"No stay on Gujarat High Court order on 2002 riot case"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Supreme Court<\/strong><\/span> on Monday gave a strong jolt to <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Gujarat Government<\/strong><\/span>\u00a0by refusing to stay the <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Gujarat High Court<\/strong><\/span> order which directs the\u00a0state government to repair religious places damaged in the 2002 post-Godhra riots.The Gujarat\u00a0government had moved the apex court\u00a0against the Gujarat High Court order.<br \/>\nThe\u00a0Supreme court\u00a0offered a solution\u00a0to formulate <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>a scheme for repairing religious places damaged during the riots on the lines of its earlier order where it had asked the Odisha government to formulate a scheme for repairing churches damage during the 2009 Kandhamal riots<\/strong><\/span>.<\/p>\n<p>When Supreme Court asked about the existence of any scheme the Gujarat government\u00a0replied that it is working on a scheme to compensate the damaged religious properties.<br \/>\nEven though the court didn&#8217;t stay the High Court order, it allayed Gujarat government&#8217;s apprehensions that the order may be used in other litigations.<br \/>\nThe Gujarat High Court on its July 9\u00a0order had directed the state government to settle the claims for damage to the religious places by August.
