{"id":22237,"date":"2012-08-01T18:56:24","date_gmt":"2012-08-01T13:26:24","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.in\/news\/?p=22237"},"modified":"2012-08-01T18:57:31","modified_gmt":"2012-08-01T13:27:31","slug":"hc-to-govt-on-plea-for-removal-of-mobile-towers","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.legalindia.com\/news\/hc-to-govt-on-plea-for-removal-of-mobile-towers","title":{"rendered":"HC to govt on plea for removal of mobile towers"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre and the city government were asked today by the<span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong> Delhi High Court<\/strong><\/span> to respond to a plea for stopping installation of\u00a0mobile towers on residential buildings due to alleged health hazards to people in vicinity from their radiation.<\/p>\n<p>A division bench of <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Acting Chief Justice A K Sikri and Justice Rajiv Sahai Endlaw<\/strong><\/span> issued notices to the Union Health Ministry and the Department of Telecommunication and sought their replies by August 9, the next date of hearing.<\/p>\n<p>The bench issued notices on East Delhi resident A S Jain&#8217;s plea, filed through advocate Sugriv Dubey, for direction to the authorities to <strong><span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\">remove\u00a0mobile towers from residential buildings and public places<\/span><\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>The petitioner also sought a direction for implementation of the <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Prime Minister<\/strong><\/span>-headed Inter Ministerial Committee&#8217;s recommendations on the issue.<\/p>\n<p>The bench asked the Centre to file the report of the <span style=\"color: #800000; text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Inter Ministerial Committee<\/strong><\/span> and its suggestions on the issue by the next date of hearing.<\/p>\n<p>Petitioner&#8217;s counsel submitted to the court that the people are being misled as, at the time of installation of mobile towers, they are not informed that the radiation from them could cause health hazards.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><em>&#8220;The common man is being kept in dark and the effect of mobile towers are not being brought to the knowledge of the residents of the locality where the towers have been installed and hence large number of persons are being affected with the disease like cancer and other disease,&#8221;<\/em><\/span> the petition said.<\/p>\n<p>Source:PTI<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Centre and the city government were asked today by the Delhi High Court to respond to a plea for stopping installation of\u00a0mobile towers on residential buildings due to alleged health hazards to people in vicinity from their radiation.
